stars threw down their spears
by Anita Dapperens
the flaming sun shook her head in disgust,
told them to stop, told them: "you must".
at once, jupiter swung io around,
but plutos quick thinking sent it to the ground.
satellites were angrily chasing the moon,
making it look like a big scared baboon.
"make the moon cry, make the moon sing."
was mars taunting chant in the heat of this thing.
the flames of the sun grew larger and hotter,
and saturn ran before she could spot her.
uranus called for a meteor rain,
hoping that peace was still to gain.
finally, the flames had reached their goals,
made the planets look into their souls.
and when even the stars threw down their spears,
only earth had real reason for her fears.

stars threw their spears
sanity
dawn's beauty
broken
love's cry
dreams of joy
bliss
the thorns of love
end of the tunnel
after storm
infinite love
banishing ghosts
fighting depression
drowning
bittersweet victory
cruel indifference
saying goodbye
heartstrings
the sun
the tragedy of want
as the world turns
you
full moon
just once
moving
when I look at you
brothers
courting
the receipt
